ثُمَّ قَفَّیۡنَا عَلٰۤی اٰثَارِہِمۡ بِرُسُلِنَا وَ قَفَّیۡنَا بِعِیۡسَی ابۡنِ مَرۡیَمَ وَ اٰتَیۡنٰہُ الۡاِنۡجِیۡلَ ۬ۙ وَ جَعَلۡنَا فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِ الَّذِیۡنَ اتَّبَعُوۡہُ رَاۡفَۃً وَّ رَحۡمَۃً ؕ وَ رَہۡبَانِیَّۃَۨ ابۡتَدَعُوۡہَا مَا کَتَبۡنٰہَا عَلَیۡہِمۡ اِلَّا ابۡتِغَآءَ رِضۡوَانِ اللّٰہِ فَمَا رَعَوۡہَا حَقَّ رِعَایَتِہَا ۚ فَاٰتَیۡنَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مِنۡہُمۡ اَجۡرَہُمۡ ۚ وَ کَثِیۡرٌ مِّنۡہُمۡ فٰسِقُوۡنَ

﴿۲۷﴾ 

Then in the footsteps of these Messengers, We sent (other) Messengers and We sent ‘Isa, the son of Maryam (Jesus, the son of Mary) after them and gave him the Injil (the Gospel). And We created kindness and mercy in the hearts of those who were (the true) followers (of ‘Isa [Jesus]). And they themselves invented the innovation of monasticism. We did not prescribe it for them. But they (introduced this innovation of monasticism) merely to seek Allah’s pleasure. Then they could not practically keep and maintain that check which was its due (i.e., could not continue its spirit and discipline). So We paid those of them who believed (and continued the innovation of monasticism to seek the pleasure of Allah) their reward. And most of them (who left it and changed their ways) are disobedient.

फिर हमने उन रसूलों के नुक़ूशे क़दम पर (दूसरे) रसूलों को भेजा और हमने उनके पीछे ईसा इब्ने मर्यम (अ़लैहिमा अस्सलाम) को भेजा और हमने उन्हें इंजील अ़ता की और हमने उन लोगों के दिलों में जो उनकी (यानी ईसा अ़लैहिस्सलाम की सहीह) पैरवी कर रहे थे शफ्क़त और रहमत पैदा कर दी, और रह्‌बानिय्यत (यानी इबादते इलाही के लिए तर्के दुन्या और लज़्ज़तों से कनारा कशी) की बिद्‌अ़त उन्होंने ख़ुद ईजाद कर ली थी, उसे हमने उन पर फर्ज़ नहीं किया था, मगर (उन्होंने रह्‌बानिय्यत की ये बिद्‌अ़त) महज़ अल्लाह की रज़ा हासिल करने के लिए (शुरू की थी) फिर उसकी अ़मली निगहदाश्त का जो हक़्क़ था वोह उसकी वैसी निगहदाश्त न कर सके (यानी उसे उसी जज़्बे और पाबन्दी से जारी न रख सके), सो हमने उन लोगों को जो उनमें से ईमान लाए (और बिदअ़ते रहबानिय्यत को रज़ाए इलाही के लिए जारी रखे हुए) थे, उनका अज्रो सवाब अ़ता कर दिया और उनमें से अक्सर लोग (जो उसके तारिक हो गए और बदल गए) बहुत नाफरमान हैं।
