[al-Baqarah, 2:253]

تِلۡکَ الرُّسُلُ فَضَّلۡنَا بَعۡضَہُمۡ عَلٰی بَعۡضٍ ۘ مِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ کَلَّمَ اللّٰہُ وَ رَفَعَ بَعۡضَہُمۡ دَرَجٰتٍ ؕ وَ اٰتَیۡنَا عِیۡسَی ابۡنَ مَرۡیَمَ الۡبَیِّنٰتِ وَ اَیَّدۡنٰہُ بِرُوۡحِ الۡقُدُسِ ؕ وَ لَوۡ شَآءَ اللّٰہُ مَا اقۡتَتَلَ الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِہِمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡہُمُ الۡبَیِّنٰتُ وَ لٰکِنِ اخۡتَلَفُوۡا فَمِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ اٰمَنَ وَ مِنۡہُمۡ مَّنۡ کَفَرَ ؕ وَ لَوۡ شَآءَ اللّٰہُ مَا اقۡتَتَلُوۡا ۟ وَ لٰکِنَّ اللّٰہَ یَفۡعَلُ مَا یُرِیۡدُ

﴿۲۵۳﴾٪

Of all these Messengers (whom We sent) We have exalted some above others: Allah spoke to some of them (directly), and raised some (above all others) in rank (i.e., elevated the Holy Prophet [blessings and peace be upon him] to the highest of all the degrees of the glory of Messengership). And We gave ‘Isa, the son of Maryam (Jesus, the son of Mary), clear signs and helped him with the Holy Spirit. And had Allah so willed, the people succeeding these Messengers would never have disputed and fought amongst themselves after the manifest signs had come to them. But they differed. So, some of them believed whilst others opted to disbelieve. (And keep it in mind that) if Allah had willed (i.e., restricted their choice to one opinion only), they would never have fought amongst themselves. But Allah does what He wills (i.e., He gives the people freedom of choice and makes them responsible for their decision).

ये सब रसूल (जो हमने मब्ऊस फरमाए) हमने इनमें से बा’ज़़ को बा’ज़ पर फज़ीलत दी है, इनमें से किसी से अल्लाह ने (बराहे रास्त) कलाम फरमाया और किसी को दर्जात में (सब पर) फौक़िय्यत दी (यानी हुजू़र नबिय्ये अकरम सल्लल्लाहु अ़लैहि व सल्लम को जुम्ला दर्जात में सब पर बलन्दी अ़ता फरमाई), और हमने मर्यम के फरज़ंद ईसा (अ़लैहिस्सलाम) को वाज़ेह निशानियां अ़ता कीं और हमने पाकीज़ा रूह के ज़रीए उसकी मदद फरमाई, और अगर अल्लाह चाहता तो उन रसूलों के पीछे आने वाले लोग अपने पास खुली निशानियां आ जाने के बाद आपस में कभी भी न लड़ते झगड़ते मगर उन्होंने इख़्तिलाफ किया पस उनमें से कुछ ईमान लाए और उनमें से कुछ ने कुफ्र इख़्तियार किया, (और ये बात याद रखो कि) अगर अल्लाह चाहता (यानी उन्हें एक ही बात पर मजबूर रखता) तो वोह कभी भी बाहम न लड़ते, लेकिन अल्लाह जो चाहता है करता है (यानी लोगों को फैसला करने की आजा़दी अता फरमाता और उनका ज़िम्मेदार ठहराता है) ।
