Feeding birds and animals in Islam. (Article 54)
Reward for feeding animals and birds in Islam

In Islam, feeding animals is considered a virtuous act that is rewarded by Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of being kind to animals and feeding them. There are many sayings (hadith) of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that encourage Muslims to feed animals, including birds.

One such hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah, who reported that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that"

This hadith illustrates the importance of being kind to animals, and how even small acts of kindness can lead to forgiveness from Allah. Feeding birds, like feeding any other animals, is considered a virtuous act in Islam, and it is believed to bring blessings and rewards from Allah.

In addition to the hadith mentioned earlier, there are several other sayings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that encourage Muslims to be kind to animals and feed them. For example:

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever is kind to the creatures of Allah is kind to himself"

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him) said, "Allah has ordained kindness (and excellence) in everything. If the killing (of animals) is required, do it in the best manner, and when you slaughter, do it in the best manner by sharpening your knife well, and making the animal comfortable"

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him) said, "There is a reward for serving any animate (living being)"

These sayings highlight the importance of kindness towards animals in Islam and the rewards that come with it. Feeding birds and other animals is considered an act of charity and compassion, and it is believed to bring blessings and rewards from Allah.

Furthermore, in Islam, animals have rights that should be respected and protected. For example, it is forbidden to harm animals or cause them unnecessary suffering. Muslims are encouraged to treat animals with kindness and respect, and to provide for their basic needs, including food and water.

In conclusion, feeding birds and other animals is a virtuous act in Islam that is encouraged and rewarded by Allah. It is a manifestation of compassion and kindness towards Allah's creations and is part of the broader Islamic teachings on animal welfare and rights.
As this is an act of kindness and compassion towards Allah's creations, it is encouraged in the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
