The Essential Path for All Aulia Allah

Sadr al-Shari'ah Badr al-Tariqah Mufti Muhammad Amjad Ali A'zami (r) says:

"No matter how great a Wali Allah is, they cannot be exempt from the adherence to Islamic Sharia. Some ignorant people claim that Sharia is merely a path and is only needed by those who have not yet reached their destination. They say, 'We have already arrived.' 

Sayyid al-Ta'ifah Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (r) responded to them, saying:

صَدَقُوا لَقَدْ وَصَلُوا وَلکِنْ إِلٰی أَیْنَ؟ إِلَی النّارِ

'They speak the truth, indeed they have reached, but where? To the Hellfire (النار).'

However, if someone's rational responsibility is lifted due to a state of ecstatic absorption (Majzoob), then the pen of Sharia is lifted from them. But understand this: such a person will never make such statements, nor will they ever oppose Sharia.
